Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School
As part of the Insignis Academy Trust, Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School is committed to using the latest EdTech and teaching practices to enhance learning. As a Google school, all 1,300 pupils have their own Chromebook, with staff devices, BYOD and guest access also requiring bandwidth.
The school's legacy Ruckus wireless solution had both configuration issues and physical design issues, causing bottlenecks and gaps in coverage - which worsened significantly upon the introduction of 1:1 learning. The school needed a high-performance solution, ready for the future, and able to support the end-to-end IT experience.
Cloud Management Means Control and Clarity over Connected Devices
The school's 1:1 provisioning of Chromebooks, plus BYOD capacity, staff devices, and guest networks meant that complete network visibility and content control was vital. Security incidents in education have skyrocketed in recent years as digital education has grown, and keeping students and staff safe when using devices is a top priority - both on and off-site.
Cloud-managed solutions can deliver the highest level of visibility and control from a single pane of glass, regardless of the number of devices.

From Legacy to Future-Ready, Redway paves the route
The COVID-19 pandemic meant it was even more vital to have a 'right first time' approach to the project. Instead of site visits, design had to be done off plan and remotely. This required a strong working relationship between Redway Networks and John Huskinson, Chief Operations Officer at Insignis Academy Trust.
1
Legacy Ruckus wireless was not well located or configured, making it unable to support 1:1 learning's bandwidth requirements.
2
With great technical functionality and intuitive design, as well as specific products to enable secure home-working without additional hardware, the school decided on an Extreme Networks solution.
3
4
The new WiFi 6 ExtremeCloud solution included 63 APs on the ground and first floors.
5
As the school was empty during the pandemic, fine-tuning configuration, a post-installation survey and troubleshooting had to be done once pupils returned to classrooms.
6
The school now has a hyper-reliable, cloud-managed WiFi 6 solution that will permit HD streaming, AI and VR for years to come.
What Sir Henry Floyd says about Redway Networks:
"In 5 years' time every student will be tapping into videos and streaming in HD, and teachers will be using more video and AI, and I'm confident that any amount of traffic we throw at our new network won't kill the WiFi."
John Huskinson, Chief Operations Officer, Insignis Academy Trust
"I've been really impressed by the service and support we've received from Redway Networks. They've been great throughout the whole process and I feel that we have formed a real partnership."
John Huskinson, Chief Operations Officer, Insignis Academy Trust
"I was very impressed with the amount of time Redway spent with he on the mapping, such as going through the detail over and over again, answering all our questions and making sure all of our network requirements were met so we got the solution right first time."
John Huskinson, Chief Operations Officer, Insignis Academy Trust
