Mowbray Education Trust Improves Student Outcomes Following WiFi Survey
Digital education has rapidly become an essential part of curriculum delivery, with schools' approach ranging from personalised 1:1 learning and collaborative apps, to outdoor classrooms and BYOD. When schools don't have the IT infrastructure to underpin EdTech - in all its scopes and sizes - students and staff suffer.
1:1 learning and other digital education strategies are not 'plug and play', and as schools invest in higher numbers of devices many experience a ceiling with their wireless networks' performance - they simply cannot provide the bandwidth required to support educators' teaching techniques.
Poor Connectivity Harms Student Outcomes
The Trust's 4 schools were suffering with poor wireless network performance, causing poor coverage, slow speeds, and students spending 25% of lesson time trying to connect to the WiFi. In an educational age where digital resources and devices are integrated into learning, the Trust needed to identify causative factors and take action.
Mowbray Education Trust decided they needed a wireless vendor with experience in the education sector, and contacted Redway Networks to arrange an on-site WiFi survey to find both the issues and fixes.

Benefits of a WiFi Survey from professionals
1
A full understanding of your network - it's strengths and weaknesses - is the essential foundation for a superior solution.
2
In Mowbray Education Trust's case, their existing network was designed using simulation software rather than data from an on-site survey - resulting in an inferior design with flaws as the network came under more strain.

4
Mowbray's survey was done using Ekahau equipment and tools - the market leader in data accuracy. This also enabled us to present live data back to the Trust, and create a simulation based on live insight.
5
We identified several 'red' issues (high priority) which signified that the Trust's WiFi was not meeting requirements. Recommendations were given to fix these in the short and long term.

What Mowbray Education Trust says about Redway Networks:
"The WiFi surve was seamless and once the report was finalised, Redway Networks' engineer explained the various visualisations one by one and made recommendations to fix the coverage gaps and improve performance."
