Leading Electrical Engineering & Manufacturing Organisation Streamlines Assembly

Anord Mardix, a leading name in the world of electrical engineering and manufacturing, invested in emerging technology and mobile devices, but discovered its existing wireless network was not capable of supporting its objectives for streamlining. 

Its combined 150,000 sq./ft of production and fabrication spaces were seeing WiFi dropouts after onboarding newer devices, reducing the efficacy of scanning products for assembly and slowing production. Toby Turner, Group IT Director, commented: "because the legacy WiFi was originally set up for devices on the 2.4GHs range it wasn't optimised to support our needs as we moved to newer devices, which meant we kept losing connection."

Anord Mardix Selects Cambium from Redway Networks

Anord Mardix's warehouses are complex, dusty environments, with many factors negatively affecting network performance, such as large-scale electronics and machinery. The organisation needed a solution that offered performance in spite of these challenges, and was also robust enough to handle its spaces.

The company measured the total cost of ownership (TCO) of a Cambium solution against the profit loss caused by WiFi dropouts and waiting staff, and found that the losses created a low TCO.

Anord Mardix selected a WiFi 6 solution with a blend of indoor and outdoor APs with directional antennae.

The project began with an on-site WiFi survey from Redway's engineers, walking all 3 facilities to gather data using Ekahau.

This determined where APs were placed, issues according to design, and how the new design would significantly improve performance.

This new design was presented as a live simulation, demonstrating how the proposed changes would benefit RF signal strength, coverage and capacity.

Anord Mardix saw the value of shifting to a WiFi 6 solution, which would deliver performance into the future - not just at the time.

Redway Networks completed a "seamless" installation, with a smooth changover to Cambium via a single SSI and password.

Remote acceptance testing is now seamless, higher signal strength means it is never lost. Network visibility and management are significantly improved, with single-pane-of-glass monitoring.
